I have lost a number of people I love to cancer, including both my grandmothers and my mother. More recently, a couple of younger members of my family have been affected by breast cancer, which has motivated me to raise money for Breast Cancer Care. I have decided to cover all the costs myself so all money raised will go to the charity.

This trek includes the Inca trail as well as the remote and rarely visited Lares valley. I will meet Andean farmers tending herds of Llamas and Alpacas, local communities and visit a local school supported by Charity Challenge. I shall be walking for up to 8 hours a day over 4 consecutive days and reaching an altitude of 4,500m. Not to mention leaving my young children for 9 days!

I have never taken part in an event such as this and it poses a big challenge for me. It takes place in my 40^th year (coping with this milestone is also a challenge for me!) - I feel excited, nervous and privileged to have this opportunity!
