In April 2021, My brothers partner of 10 years was in extreme pain and they called for an ambulance, it turned out Rebecca was pregnant and had an eptopic pregnancy (her baby was growing in her Fallopian tube) the paramedics arrived but it was too late, Bekkis tube had ruptured and she lost a lot of blood, Putting her into cardiac arrest. My brother held her in his arms as she lay unconscious, her children terrified and distraught. The paramedics tried to revive her for around 40 minutes in the ambulance before she was taken to hospital. A couple of days later, it was announced that there was no brain function and that without the support of medical equipment, Bekki would pass away. My brother, Bekkis family and her 8 children had to come to terms with the fact they were going to lose her. Bekkis life support machine was switched off whilst she was surrounded by her loved ones and she passed away.

This tragedy is something that could happen to anyone with an eptopic pregnancy and the worst part about it is that it is preventable when you know what to look out for in early pregnancy. There aren’t always symptoms but if they develop, it’s usually between the 4th and 12th week of pregnancy and include tummy pain low down on one side, vaginal bleeding or a brown watery discharge, pain in the tip of your shoulder and discomfort when peeing or pooing, all symptoms that you may think are just normal pregnancy symptoms. Whilst this could be the case, there is never any harm with being too cautious and a quick scan during early pregnancy would detect an eptopic pregnancy and treatment can be given.

Please, if any pregnant ladies feel something isn’t quite right in early pregnancy, DO NOT DELAY, get it checked out, it could save your life.

Bekki was a loving mother to her 8 children, Tori, Tyler, Ruby, Riley, Louie, Lennox, Ashton and Aliza, she was in a happy relationship with my brother, Anthony and family was everything to them. Bekki also loved her family, her sisters Rachel and Ebony and of course her mum and dad. All these people have a big hole in their hearts now and I want to run in her memory, for her and for them so please, I would be very grateful if you could donate and help me reach my target.
