Story
I decided to do this Half a Marathon Hike for Macmillan Cancer because a close family member was diagnosed with cancer a few years ago. I mentioned this to my sister and niece and they were keen to jump on board and form Team Super Sisters!
Thankfully our family member made a full recovery, but now I don’t know someone who hasn’t been affected by cancer. There have been more family members, there have been amazing mums who I see and chat to on the school run who are still smiling and positive despite everything they’re going through. I can now count on two hands the number of people I know who have been directly affected by cancer. And that doesn’t even include their family and friends and those they hold dear.
Since signing up for this hike we have recently lost a lovely neighbour to cancer, a member of a friend’s family has been diagnosed with cancer and I’ve lost an inspirational and amazing Pilates client to cancer.
I donate monthly to Macmillan as they do such fantastic work but I wanted to do more. Raising money for charity has always been on my list of things I’d love to do and what better time than now?
The hike is back in my lovely homeland of Wales and as I haven’t been back there since last August nor seen my gorgeous sister and niece since then, what better way to raise money for a fantastic cause, in a place I hold dear with some of the people I love most in the world?
Thank you so much for your support, it means the world to all three of us.
