Story
Why am i popping on my trainers and running for 5 km? I would like to say that it was because it was the start of January and i was full of good intentions after having to much of the turkey and trimmings over Christmas. However, i'd be lying. I hate running and when i say i hate running I MEAN I HATE RUNNING and the New Year good intentions never entered my head. However, when a girl in work suggested it and said that it was in aide of the Stroke Association for the first time in my life i found myself pausing, thinking about it and actually saying yes.
Why.....because it meant something to me. Something tugged on the heart strings as sadly my Grandfather, Gus, whom i was never fortunate enough to meet died from a stroke; my mother has suffered from many as have my Uncle's on my Dad's side. So its on both sides of my family and doing the run would be a fantastic way to help an organisation who has helped so many over the years.
It also has meant that preparing for the run has helped me on a journey in some way to increase my fitness and lose weight in the hope of reducing the risk of me suff ering from a stroke in the future.
So if you'd like to take some pictures for future blackmailing purposes come on down to Bute Park on the 12th! I've never asked or done a fundraiser before and i absolutely hate asking for money but if you'd like to donate i'd really appreciate it. Just follow the instructions on this page.
....And now for the official blurb from JustGiving:
