Story
Some of Brighton’s most vulnerable young people are in
crisis this year, can you help?
I will be doing the Tough Mudder endurance event on Septmeper 25th 2016
I'm raising as much money as I can for YAC, an advice and support service for young people aged 13-25 in Brighton and Hove. The fund provides urgent support for young people, which is desperately needed as winter draws nearer.
For those of you who have not heard of this event it is a 20km military style obstacle course. Not only is the course just short of a half marathon but involves 25 obstacles ranging from ice pools to electrocution (hopefully not at the same time!)
Anyone who wants to see what I am putting myself through, and have a laugh at my expense, watch the following video http://toughmudder.co.uk/obstacles/course-types
A bit more on why I'm raising money for YAC.
Some of the young people that access YAC are faced with little options to keep them away from sleeping rough; If they are lucky, they might be sofa surfing between friends, if not they face homelessness and countless risks on the streets.
More often than not, they have faced problems at home which
may have caused them to be placed in this vulnerable position. Rough sleeping is very real threat for them
and YAC want to be able to make their lives as safe they can, while providing
for their basic needs if the young people are not able to do so themselves.
Your help will go directly to the fund, which will be used
to buy warm clothes, food, bus tickets, toothbrushes and toiletries. Your money
will also contribute towards paying expenses for volunteers, without which, YAC
would be unable to operate the drop-in service.
Please help with
whatever you can. Every donation makes a huge difference to what they can achieve.
And even if you can’t help, please do spread the word on social media- that
will really help this event too.
Thanks so much,
Michelle Alborough

the Tough Mudder Course- yikes!)
