Story
Recently our lovely, fun, loyal colleague and friend Jay was diagnosed with a Brain Tumour. After a very strong fight she sadly passed away just a few months later. We were all devastated at how soon your life can change and also surprised at how little is known about such tumours. Jay was an inspiring lady and her life was cut short at just 49 years old, she was a doer and a great believer in if you want to make changes, you have to stand up and be counted. On Sunday 2nd October, in memory of Jay and in support of the Brain Tumour Charity The Not Just Kitchen Ideas team along with friends and family will be taking part in a sponsored walk/run/cycle between our showrooms with walkers and runners doing 15 miles from Guildford to Woking to Frimley and the cyclists covering 28 miles by starting and finishing at the Frimley branch.
Over the next five years more than 46000 adults and children in the UK will be diagnosed with a brain tumour. Almost 25,000 will sadly pass away. We hear too often from those affected by brain tumours that there are limited, if any treatment options which would increase any chance of survival and quality of life. The Brain Tumour Charity research strategy, A Cure Can't Wait outlines their priorities over the next five years as they strive to create a world where Brain Tumours are defeated. They also make a difference every day to the lives of people with brain tumours and their families with various support groups, helplines and events.
