Story
Alzheimer’s disease is the most common cause of dementia. The word dementia describes a set of symptoms that can include memory loss and difficulties with thinking, problem-solving or language. These symptoms occur when the brain is damaged by certain diseases, including Alzheimer’s disease.
When a family member has Alzheimer’s disease, it affects everyone in the family, including children and grandchildren. There is no doubt that caring for a person with Alzheimer's disease can be frustrating and difficult.
My personal motivation to create this page was that my grandmother has been recently diagnosed with the first symptoms of Alzheimer disease and I realised how difficult it can be especially for family members and friends. For that reason I decided to do my best and run this 10km race raising a small amount of money to support the Alzheimer’s Society.
Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever.Until the day we find a cure, we will create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.
Every penny you donate to Alzheimer’s Society is making sure we can be there for people affected by dementia.
**Special thanks to Dionysios Oikonomou for joining this cause and for his valuable support and training advice.
