Our beloved landlord Michael Roughead sadly passed away on Tuesday 21st April. Needless to say we are all devastated by the loss and the huge hole this has left in our hearts and the local community.

For those of you who may not have been lucky enough to have met the gentle Geordie giant, you may have never realised how much Michael has given our village. Not only was he the landlord of the White Lion, he was also the chairman of Sawston United and instrumental in organising the annual Sawston Fete.

Over his 15 years as landlord of the White Lion, Michael raised tens of thousands of pounds for various charities including Arthur Rank Hospice which was very close to his heart.
