Story
The earthquake on 6 February is a still unfolding tragedy in Turkey and NW Syria. Nearly 60,000 people are confirmed to have been killed and 1.7 of the 15 million people displaced are refugees. These people need our help. To raise money:
- I bought a Trek bike (since replaced by a new one kindly donated by Trek) and a support van, and cycled from Adelaide to Brisbane. The ride took 50 days and finished at Bald Hills State School on 15 March. I cycled 3,548 kms and over 27,066 m of climbing.
- I pay massive tribute to my wife Margaret who has steadfastly supported every km of the ride.
- The trip was entirely self-funded and all money raised has gone directly to Refugee support (I am a Trustee).
- Please do support my effort - we still need a great deal of money at Refugee Support.

At Refugee support, we support refugees by giving people who care the opportunity to show solidarity in dignified, meaningful ways.Through our pioneering Dignity Centre model, we provide much-needed material support to refugees, while offering them normality, stability and agency. In our Dignity Markets, which are modelled on a shop, members can ‘spend’ their weekly allocation of points as they wish. We also work closely with local host communities, and are efficient, dynamic and responsive—ensuring your money goes straight to where it's needed.
