Story
Christian Aid - El Salvador and Honduras
In July and August this year I will be taking two months to walk over one thousand miles, hoping to raise money for Christian Aid. I will be unsupported, carrying everything I will need to eat and sleep along with me, walking over twenty miles a day through some of the toughest (and hopefully some of the nicest!) landscapes in the UK. As if that wasn't fun enough almost every night I will be camping under the stars, come rain or shine! At the beginning of July I will bid farewell to friends and family and head to Lands End in Cornwall. The next time I see them will be at the end of August, over 1000 miles walk away in John o'Groats, Scotland. I chose this project as I love Christian Aid's choice to support local partners and because it is match funded; this way I believe every pound raised will go as far as it possibly can.

Empowering Women and Girls
This project is match funded, so for every pound you give we receive an extra three!
Christian Aid and our partners ORMUSA and OCDIH are beginning an innovative 4-year project with some of the poorest, most marginalised communities in Central America. In El Salvador and Honduras women and girls from indigenous communities are some of the poorest and most disempowered people, facing huge barriers to securing sexual and reproductive health. In both countries our partners will tackle the immediate need for better healthcare, but will also empower women and girls to claim their rights. Through far-reaching education programmes, our partners will seek to address the issues of under-age pregnancy and sexually-transmitted infections (STIs). Gender-based violence against indigenous communities is disproportionately high: our partners will also seek to reduce this rate, helping to achieve security for some of the most vulnerable women.
