We train amazing hearing dogs to transform the lives of deaf people

Story

On Sunday 25th May I will be abseiling the Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth to raise money for Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.

You can donate through this page, or I am collecting money the traditional way too! Or you can text VOWL99 plus the amount you want to sponsor me (e.g. £5) to 70070

I am part of a team connected to the Auditory Implant Service who have pledged to raise £5000 for Hearing Dogs, we are nearly at our target and this abseil is the last event.

Hearing dogs do a great job. They are trained to respond to up to 10 sounds, including gently nudging and finally pulling the bedclothes off their deaf recipient in the morning if they refuse to get out of bed!  They also bring confidence and a means of contact with the wider community; many deaf people feel isolated, but people with dogs get noticed and spoken to when out and about.  For more information please see the Hearing Dogs website: http://www.hearingdogs.org.uk/ Please help to support members of the community who are severely-profoundly deaf and who could benefit in so many ways from access to a Hearing Dog.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
