My Marathon Challenge
Fundraising for Alzheimer's Society
Fundraising for Alzheimer's Society
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I've never run further than 5 miles before training for this, and the last time I did that was when I was in my twenties, so this is a big challenge for me. It's made especially challenging as my training goes right through the winter and I have to train before I go to work 4 days a week - so lots of cold, wet and tired mornings already, with lots more to go!
Training is already well underway - I started in September doing 10 minute run, 5 minute walk, 10 minute runs, building up to a 10K (Abbey Dash) in Leeds in November and am doing the Liversedge half marathon in February as part of the build up.
My aim is purely to cross the finish line. I've not set any time goals as I'm not built for speed, but will definitely be putting everything I've got into it.
I've chosen the Alzheimer's Society because of the support they've given to my Dad over the last few years, and also for the help they have given to my Mum to help her cope with my Dad's illness.
I'm doing this marathon because it's something I've always wanted to do, but if I can raise awareness and get some money for the Alzheimer's Society in the process then that can only be a good thing right?
So if you'd like to donate something for this worthwhile cause that would be great, if not, thanks for reading this anyway.
