Story
I can't quite believe I'm saying this, but I'm running a half marathon in less than 4 weeks time...
This is why I'm supporting Dementia UK:
1. I'm doing this for my Grandad, who sadly passed away last summer. I wanted to do something in his memory that would really push me out of my comfort zone (safe to say I've never really been a 'runner'), I just know he will be with me in spirit cheering me on, as that's what he always did, he always supported me with everything I did. Even just a month before he passed, he came to watch me perform one of my gigs that summer.
2. He was probably the most generous person I know. He would have given his last penny to a stranger, which is why I wanted to do something to raise funds for a good cause, to give something back in his memory.
3. It's a really good cause. Dementia is a horrible disease, it's awful for the person suffering but it's also really hard for their loved ones. Dementia UK, work not only with the patient but also their families. Grandad's admiral nurse (all funded through Dementia UK), Fiona, was amazing and helped so much to ensure he was being cared for properly.
