Story
For two years in a row the team at Metro Bank in Crawley have achieved a mammoth 2,500km of walking in the month of February which is a massive achievement. Last year we raised £1,405 for Evelina London and this year we're aiming to raise £1,500 for Ronald McDonald House Charities.
February is notoriously a dreary month and we’ll be walking in some of the harshest weather of the year however the whole reason we’re doing this walk in Winter is to challenge ourselves. When we wake up each morning, thinking how easy it would be to skip the walk today, we will remember that we are blessed with the choice to make our lives easier – we are raising money to support those that tragically do not have such a choice.
Ronald McDonald House Brighton sits opposite the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital in the centre of the city. Their eight-bedroom house provides free, comfortable accommodation to families with children and premature babies being treated at the hospital. They also run a further 10 bedrooms on the top floor of the children’s hospital – meaning they can offer 18 en suite rooms to families with seriously ill children. Families staying with them can cook, play, rest and be together, all the time knowing that they are only moments away from their child in hospital. The charity also run activities so families and children staying at the house can have a break away from the hospital ward.
