Menaka's Great North Run 2021!

Great North Run 2021 · 12 September 2021 ·
Like most of the UK, I took up running for the first time in the first lockdown in March 2020. I'm not a natural runner but in a moment of madness I ambitiously signed up to the GNR that year with the RVI neuroscience team. Due to covid it was unfortunately cancelled (though no small relief to me). But on continued the training and now I find myself rapidly approaching the day I will be running the longest distance I've ever run.
It is wonderful to be a part of the 40th year of the Great North Run and to be raising money for this very worthwhile charity. Covid has hit charities hard so anything you can give is very appreciated. As a neurosurgery registrar I've seen first hand the effect that epilepsy has on patients lives, and with the brilliant team at the RVI we try and improve seizures and quality of life, and it wouldn't be possibly without the help and support of charities like Epilepsy Research UK.
Epilepsy interrupts the lives of ordinary, extraordinary people. It’s invisible. It’s unpredictable. It’s frightening. Epilepsy Research UK is the only UK charity exclusively dedicated to driving and enabling life changing, life saving research into epilepsy. A life free from epilepsy is possible. But only through research. Join our #ALifeInterrupted campaign www.epilepsyresearch.org.uk/ALifeInterrupted
