Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Hi, I’m Melissa. My brother Ashley has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy but there isn’t a treatment for him. It is a deteriorating condition and he struggles now to get up from the floor, he cannot climb stairs anymore and walking is becoming harder for him. He has a wheelchair to get around when walking is just too hard for him. He is 10 years old.
Since he was diagnosed in June 2014, Action for Ashley has raised over £135,000 thanks to the generosity of supporters, all of which has been donated to specific research projects to help find a treatment for Ashley and others with Duchenne.
Molly is my best friend and we do everything together. We have helped raise money with bake sales, diving with sharks without a cage (!), the Great North Run, helping at the annual Charity Ball, selling raffle tickets, charity football matches, helping Molly’s Mum raise money at a Bingo night and our next adventure is the Zip Slide in Wales. We will be zipped up like caterpillars, attached to wire at the top of the mountain and then they push us off. We hope that you might consider sponsoring us as we continue to raise vital funds.
You can also text WIRE54 followed by £5 or £10 to 70070 (don’t forget to add Gift Aid if eligible) and in return we will let you see how bad we look as caterpillars :)
Thank you so much for reading and for helping us raise money.
