We pioneer life-saving cancer research to help us beat cancer

Story

I’m planning on staying up all night on 26 September - and although there will be neon paint, glow sticks and potentially glitter - this is no Saturday night rave.

I’ll instead be putting a few months’ training into practice and walking the Shine Night Walk to raise money for Cancer Research UK- it’s a 26 mile (42 km) marathon walk throughout the night in London, and it’ll take around 9 hours, if I can keep up a power walk pace..

If you don’t fancy giving up a peaceful night’s sleep and walking too, you can still be part of it and sponsor me to do the steps instead. Every little helps if you can donate, and I’m really grateful for the support thank you!

The Facts

Although cancer survival rates have doubled over the past 40 years, there is still progress we can make. If we beat cancer a year quicker, we’ll save 159,000 lives, a day quicker we’ll save 430, and even just one hour quicker we’ll save 18 lives. Breast cancer is still the most common type in the UK, with nearly 140 women diagnosed every day (and 350 men every year).
