Story
Most of you all know me, I was never in the school sports team and my idea of doing a 'sport' was watching it on TV eating a sausage roll!
But, as I roll through my late 40's, I've lost some weight and discovered that I am actually quite good at swimming. So, because of this and with the amazing encouragement of the lovely Stephanie H, I have finally succumbed to my very first sporting challenge, and it's quite a big one.
On 13th August 2017 (a day after my 40-something birthday), I will be taking part in SwimRutland and aiming to swim 4km in open water.
Not only am I doing this to prove something to myself (and my old PE teachers), I would also like to publicly thank Free Kicks Foundation by raising some money for them. They gave my son Ben a day he will always remember when he was recovering from his major operation a few years ago, by treating him to a football mascot day.
The Free Kicks Foundation is a Peterborough based charity whose aim is to provide football-related activities for ill, bereaved and disadvantaged children, to give them a day to remember with their favourite football club
If you could spare a few pennies/pounds/millions, then I am sure this would help give another child a day they will never forget.
Thank you all so much,
Melanie x
