Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes about 4 years ago. I'm sure I'm not the only one who went through denial. At first, I thought "what have I done?" Then, yeah, I'll be fine, just keep taking the tablets and it will sort itself. ........... Er, that's a big, fat NO. After a year or so of just plodding on I got fed up of trying to remember to takes my meds and decided to do something about it. I started by changing my diet. I won't lie, it was, and still is, hard. Then, I joined the gym, it was a good choice for me, and I started running on the treadmill. Eventually, I got help from a personal trainer. It took me a while to settle on the right one, but now I have. I also joined a running club. It has taken 4 years but I'm off my meds, it was not easy. The mood swings, the lows, the highs, they are tough. You would be foolish to think that you could do it alone. Without the help and support of my friends, family and professionals, I don't know what state I would be in now. So, I'm running at least one race every month until December. The distance vary from 10k to half marathon. I have already done 3 and am planning to complete another 13, maybe more. If the money I raise can help just one person cope with diabetes and get the right help and support, then it's a good thing. People have helped me along the way and I would like to help others too.
