Story

My marathon for Alzheimer’s Research UK.

I have chose to run for Alzheimer’s Research UK because of my Grandma. Margaret Jean Jones sadly passed away as a result of being diagnosed with vascular dementia and Alzheimer’s. This disease affects so many people, whether it’s knowing someone who is diagnosed or being diagnosed themselves.

In 2018, half (51%) of the public agreed with the statement ‘Dementia is a cause of death’, despite it being the UK’s leading cause of death. Alzheimer’s Research UK are striving to increase a world wide understanding of this disease, where they devote all their time and money into improving diagnosis, reducing risk and researching potential treatments.

This condition takes away the best parts of someone you love and strips them of all the memories you once shared with each other. It was so upsetting seeing my Grandma forget who I was, watching all the memories we had made together disappear.

If you can help in anyway by sharing my story, raising awareness or contributing to my fund raiser for the London marathon I would personally be forever grateful.

Thank you

Megan
