Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I have set this page up for my daughter Megan Olivia Stokes who has overcome so much in the 1st year of her life.
Megan was born with two large holes in her heart called an ASD and VSD and also mild sub aortic stenosis. She had open heart surgery at The Brompton Hospital in London at 4 months of age to repair both the holes and the subaortic stenosis. Prior to the surgery she was very poorly with an abnormal heart rythm and went into 2:1 heartblock so it was decided that she would also require a little pacemaker to be fitted.
Unfortunatley, Megan contracted an infection after her surgery which delayed her recovery but her strength and determination to fight was amazing. Eventually after a month long stay at The Brompton Hospital Rose Ward and PICU, she was well enough to come home!!
I am eternally grateful to Mr Ghez her surgeon who saved my beautiful daughters life along with the amazing staff/nurses/doctors in PICU and Rose Ward who cared for my baby girl around the clock. This was an incredibily stressful situation for any parent to have to go through and the support that the hospital offered was absolutely excellent.
Megan was a year old on the 5th November 2010 and to mark her special day, I would like to celebrate by raising money for The Brompton Foundation. It would mean so much to be able to give something back.
Megan's health is now excellent, she is excelling in everyway possible. She is feeding well, crawling, babbeling and showing so much love. She is currently on a medicine called amioderone to control her heart rythm and all her check ups/pacing checks have been positive. She really is an angel and I love her so much. She took her 1st steps on mothers day 2011. I am so greatful that she is here.
Thank you for reading my story and donating.
Love Carly and family and not fogetting our little megan xxxxxxx
