Hey guys, I'm going to be running the Edinburgh half marathon in May this year. This will probably come to a shock to most people as I can barely run the length of myself, but I'm willing to take on the 21km challenge if it means I can raise some money for a good cause.

I'll be doing the run to raise funds for CHAS in memory of my friend Kyle Handy. Kyle was always cheery, which I admired him for greatly as he suffered from Muscular Dystrophy - a life-limiting and incurable illness which gradually made him lose the use of his muscles, and which eventually lead to his death at the age of 19 in April 2011. CHAS is a charity which supported Kyle and his family for the majority of his life, and has continued to support his family after his death. The charity has a hospice called Rachel House which Kyle adored, and always looked forward to his trips to. While Rachel House was somewhere where Kyle could make friends, have fun and spend quality time with his family, it was also a place which provided his family with some much needed time to relax as constant care was always on hand during their stay, all made possible by CHAS.

Expert care is on hand to help them make the most of each day and live life to the full. CHAS is the only charity in Scotland that provides vital hospice services for children and young people with life-shortening conditions.”
