Running up Lochnagar · 2 May 2010
Due to snow the run has been post-poned! Reports of snow fall on Lochnagar have led to the run being put back until Sunday 9th May. We are now praying for some strong sunshine over the next week to melt away all that fresh snow. Thank-you so much for all the sponsorship! I'll keep you updated with the plan as it unfolds! :)
I am travelling out to Ethiopia in June through a charity called Link Ethiopia to teach English in secondary schools for 3 months. In addition to its volunteering programme, Link Ethiopia works to improve the lives of Ethiopian children through education, providing them with the skills to seek jobs and so aim for a better quality of life.
In rural areas of Ethiopia over half of all children have no access to education and where schools do exist they are often severely under resourced. Link Ethiopia provides basic resources such as classrooms, furniture, toilet blocks and drinking water facilities. The charity is also involved in building libraries and providing stationary and school uniforms. For more information on Link Ethiopia the charity has a great website at: http://www.linkethiopia.org/index.html or visit their facebook page at www.facebook.com/linkethiopia
In order to raise some money for this fantastic cause I will be running up Lochnagar! The route will be 19km and the ascent – a gruelling 930m. The run will be taking place on Sunday the 2nd May – providing the snow holds off - and the family back-up team will also be heading up the mountain behind with food and encouragement!
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
