Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
In June 2019 our mum passed away peacefully at Kilbryde Hospice in East Kilbride. During her few weeks there she received the most fantastic care - compassionate, personal and dignified. The Kilbryde staff supported us, and our family through a very difficult period. The facilities are outstanding and the specialist palliative care provided is so vital that we felt that we had to try to contribute towards their mission to give something back - however small. This is important to us because of the benefit we received from them.
Our mum had previously supported Kilbryde Hospice herself, never imagining that one day she would utilise the facilities. Kilbryde Hospice relies on donations to fund their work. From experience we understand how important it is to have somewhere that can make that difficult time coping that bit easier.
We decided that we would try to raise money by taking part in the Great Scottish Run Half Marathon - a somewhat ambitious target for at least one of us, and a downright ridiculous target for the other! We are training as hard as we can, and although we might not be breaking any time records on September 29th, we WILL finish that race with the same fighting spirit that our mum showed to us.
Kilbryde Hospice relies on donations and has a target of £2.5million per year to guarantee the care it currently provides.
