Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am setting myself the ambitious target of walking across the entirety of Dartmoor, south to north, in a single day to raise much-needed funds for North Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team. As with other rescue teams, these amazing people are on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, yet receive no government funding and are entirely reliant on donations from the public.
When my mum had a nasty slip on the side of Yes Tor in November 2019, there was no choice but to call the number that no one wishes to call, and in under an hour, 13 members of the team arrived and stretchered her (and guided us) down the hill where she was then driven in a landrover to an awaiting ambulance. Then another member drove my stepdad and I to our car so we could pick her up. She had broken her foot in two places, and there was no chance that without the aid of North Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team that we would have got off the moor, especially as it was getting dark and cold (with three small dogs).
We are all indebted to their amazing work and want to support them so that they can continue saving people's lives, and it's why I've decided to do this (some would argue crazy) challenge, which may involve some night walking. If you could spare any change, that would all help towards reaching my goal and every donation is greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
