Story
In November 2019, my Mum woke with a terrible pain in her stomach. The pain was so bad she couldn't get out of bed.
My Dad contacted my sister who immediately came to my Mum's aide. She took one look at her and called for an ambulance. 5 minutes later I received the call whilst out running. I was 4 miles away from home and made it back to the house in record time to jump in the car and meet the family at the hospital.
Once at the hospital it was heartbreaking to see the amount of pain my Mum was in. After several hours of tests and assessments the family were called by the surgeon to explain that my Mum had suffered a perforated bowel after years of colitis, she needed a life saving & life changing operation to remove her colon.
Thankfully, the operation was a success and my Mum survived. However, the operation has changed the way my Mum lives her life and she continues to adapt both physically and mentally to her new body.
I will be running the London Marathon to raise awareness and much needed funds for Crohn's & Colitis UK and I know my Mum will be with me every step of the way. xxx
