Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On the 18th of January this year, we lost my Brother Matthew, due to an undiagnosed genetic heart condition (Arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy) , he had just turned 20, and collapsed while playing football with friends. This kind of cardiac attack can not only be prevented by the diagnosis of disorders through research but the effects can also be lessened through the use of defibrillators. Such equipment, if used imediately reduces the risk of death significantly giving a 90% survival rate, but if used after 10 minues, survival rates are remote. This is why it is vital to have such equipment available in the areas such attacks are likely to occur. We are raising money in Matthews memory, to supply all schools and higher education establishments in Tameside with such equipment and also the neccasary training to use them.
SADSuk is a charity striving for the same goal nationwide, their work has lead the government to decide to allowing free defibrillators to all new school builds, but not to the existing establishments. This is where you come in, your donations on this page no matter how big or small, will go straight to supplying defibrillators in YOUR local area, to save the lives of YOUR neighbours, friends and children. SADSuk have kindly set up a memorial fund just for Matthew. Every penny donated in his name will go straight to buying defibrillators, and those defibrillators will be installed in all Tameside schools and higher education establishments.
Matthew was an amazing brother, son and a firm friend, who will be missed not only by his family, but by all that knew him. We are incredibly grateful for the support we have recieved, and only hope that these events can be turned into a positive by generous people like yourselves. We aim to have defibrillators in ALL tameside schools and establishments, and with your help we will make this happen.
Thank you again for your time and donations, Matthew would be incredibely proud.
