Story
Hi everyone. In April, I will be part of a group of 20 people making the 2000km, month long trip from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City on bicycles(!) This is to raise money for the Saigon Children's Charity as well as some partner charities, which you can read more about below. I'm taking a month off work, and the ride will be entirely self-funded - every penny you donate here will go to charity, not to me.
As you are no doubt aware, I'm not known for my participation in endurance cycling events, so this will be a big challenge. Each rider is expected to raise a minimum of $1000 (that's dollars, not pounds), which is a pretty significant amount, so if you're feeling generous, please donate! Thanks very much!
About the charities:
As you may know, Vietnam is a relatively poor country, and many children here don't have the same opportunities that we're used to at home. The Saigon Children's Charity aims to help disadvantaged children in Vietnam to reach their full potential through providing a quality education relevant to their needs. The SCC is distinguished for building schools, giving scholarships, and working with other smaller organizations that focus on children with disabilities. They enable over 3,000 children to go to school everyday in Vietnam!
One of the partner charities is The Children's Initiative:
The Children’s Initiative is dedicated to improving the lives of children in developing countries through strategic, long-term investments in community-based projects and programs. TCI works in partnership with local communities to help them realize their aspirations for their children. Its area of operation is in the north of Vietnam, based around Catdang village near Hanoi.
