Story
My mum was diagnosed with terminal breast cancer in 2012 and has been battling with it ever since.
As a family, we’ve experienced some real lows since her diagnosis, and we’ve never really known how to say to each other how unfair we feel it is; how upset, angry, scared and confused it’s made us feel.
But we’ve also had some amazing highs. We’ve gone rock diving in Croatia, watched the sunset over a volcano on a boat in Santorini, and had longer together as a family than any of us would have thought.
I’ve felt powerless at the sight of my mum’s powerlessness to the disease. But this marathon and the fundraising opportunity has given me a feeling of power and purpose against what’s been hurting my mum.
When she was diagnosed, I didn’t think I’d still have a mum at this point. So I want to show how grateful I am that I still do, and give something back to the charity that gave her so much excellent treatment and support.
Even more so, I’m doing this for her, to make her proud.
Any money you can give is incredibly appreciated and will fuel me to train harder and run faster for a cause that will make sure other people receive the treatment they need and deserve.
