Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving
page.
From September 8 to 11 2016 I shall be cycling over 300 miles from my home in Ashtead to Cologne in Germany with a team of friends to help raise money for Rianna's Fund.
In January 2003, Rianna, a young girl just eight years old, died tragically when a tree fell at her school in Ashtead, Surrey. Rianna’s Fund children’s charity was established to help and support underprivileged children around the world reach their full potential. Rianna’s Fund has been able to develop and support many projects, including a home for orphans in Kenya, the building of a new school for over 640 children in Kampala, Uganda and more recently a number of projects in India, which include building a new children’s home in Mumbai.
This year, we are setting the ambitious target for the A2C ride of raising enough funding to build 3 new classroom blocks, each of 3 classrooms, at 3 different rural schools in Uganda. Our aim is to end each day’s ride with you having raised enough money to fund the building at one of the 3 schools. Each community has made a start on providing education for their children but they need help to improve their facilities. Our aim is to fund the building of a 3 classroom block at each location, and if we can raise enough, to equip each class with desks, chairs and learning materials.
This is an ambitious goal, and if we only reach part of the ambition it will materially change children’s lives. If we manage to achieve the full A2C funding goal, the ride will lead to nearly 500 children being educated every year.
You will be pleased to know that I am covering all of my costs for the trip and every penny you donate will go to pay for the Fund's invaluable work around the world.
