We fund research into type 1 diabetes to find a cure for type 1 diabetes

Story

Bella is a very brave little princess with type one diabetes - I'm part of her family and can see the struggle that they all go through. Yet what I see & hear is only the tip of the iceberg.  A lovely family that deserves all the help.

I would like to hear Little Bella say one day that she had diabetes....that would be amazing!

I'm climbing Mount Toubkal (the highest peak in North Africa) on December the 30th and this will take a week! And by the time I get to the top I hope to have reached my donation target.
So please donate even if it's just a little, it means a lot.

Bella's Story....

Bella was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes on the 2nd January 2014, at 3 years old.  Her pancreas no longer worked and it was nobody's fault. Looking back at the three months prior; she had been ill with a couple of viruses, began bed wetting, feeling lethargic, drinking a lot, and was generally very emotional.  In the final days before diagnosis, Bella was sleeping 20 hours a day.

(The 4 T's of Type 1 Diabetes in an undiagnosed - Toilet, Thirsty, Tired, Thinner and this is regularly misdiagnosed as a childhood viral infection for which antibiotics are given.)

Upon diagnosis she was sent to hospital in an ambulance, as unknown to her parents, Bella was as little as hours away from falling into a coma.   Bella spent four days in hospital.

Two and a half years on, amazingly Bella has adjusted to the regime of managing her illness. Bella has her sugar level tested approximately 20 times throughout the day and night, sits patiently while all food and drink she consumes is carb counted, and permanently wears a glucose monitoring sensor on her arm & an insulin pump which, through a tube and cannula feeds insulin into her body.  With countless nurse, consultant, GP & psychology appointments, episodes of hypoglycaemia & hyperglycaemia, and feeling unwell, life can be hard.
