Story
Thank you for visiting my page! I have decided to run David Goggins’ 48-hour challenge. For those of you who do not know what this is, it means that I am planning to run 4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours. So, I will be running 48 miles which is just under 2 marathons in 2 days, I can imagine it will be as fun as it sounds!
I will be running from 4pm on Friday the 12th June and then every 4 hours until 4pm on Sunday the 14th June. I am sure I will be an absolute joy to be around during these 48 hours, especially as I will be in pain and be suffering from a severe lack of sleep!
I have chosen to complete this challenge to raise money for the British Heart Foundation (BHF). This is an amazing charity that funds research into heart and circulatory diseases and their risk factors.
I am doing this in memory of two very special people, my Uncle Mike and my Nan. In 2012 I tragically lost my uncle Mike from a sudden and undiagnosed heart condition. He was just 47 and left behind his wife and two daughters aged 11 and 7 who were all left shocked and heartbroken by the sudden loss of their devoted husband and dad. This had a huge impact on the family especially my Nan and Grandad who had lost their son and my Mum and Auntie who had lost their younger brother, way too soon.
In March this year I also lost my precious nan as a result of heart failure. My Nan loved her family and her life, she was a remarkable woman, she was courageous and dignified and she was selfless and compassionate. She gave us so much love and guidance and I am very proud and thankful that she was my Nan. Heart failure took away her ability to live independently, but she remained tenacious and determined to the end. I miss both my Nan and my Uncle every day.
I hope you agree that the BHF is a very worthy charity and your support will help to fund life-saving research into heart and circulatory diseases which still kill 1 in 4 people in the UK. The BHF is dedicated to future preventions, treatments and cures.Support for their work is more crucial than ever during this challenging time.
Thank you for your support.
