Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I am running the Royal Parks Half on 9th October in memory of Gran. In October last year we sadly lost my granny at the ripe old age of 100. Granny was always someone who loved watching/playing any sport throughout her life, something I share the same passion of doing which is where we formed our amazing bond.
Unfortunately in the last few years of her life, her eye sight began to deteriorate which meant that she was eventually no longer able to enjoy this passion for sport which was a key aspect of keeping her entertained in her later years given her reduced mobility in her old age. Macular degeneration had a huge impact on her. From being a very independent lady, she was no longer able to do many of the things she had loved and became far more dependent on others which I know frustrated her immensely.
Whilst I knew granny did not feel lonely as we were lucky enough to live close by, we could not be with her every minute of the day which I found difficult given I knew the degeneration of her eyes would cause an impact mentally and emotionally.
I am raising money for the Macular Society to help with research in finding a cure for this awful disease in order to ensure less people are having to suffer in isolation.
Every donation counts so please do help me play my part in curing this disease.
