Story

Thanks for visiting my JustGiving page.

You now have the opportunity to do something really special by following my journey and donating to a wonderful charity.

Please take a few moments to read on…

Around 70,000 adults and children in the UK may have Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD)—a life-threatening, inherited condition that can cause renal failure and affect other organs in the body.

Why support PKD Charity?
When I was just 1 year old, my gran passed away from PKD. At the time, not much could be done. Years later, my dad was diagnosed with PKD, and by 2023, his kidney functionality had dropped below 10%, leaving him in urgent need of a transplant.

Thanks to the incredible work of PKD Charity and the advancements in research they support, my dad received a kidney transplant. The journey wasn’t without its challenges—he faced complications, including time in a coma—but ultimately, it was a success. Now, with his health restored, my family has been given a renewed sense of life and purpose that wouldn’t have been possible without the research, awareness, and support PKD Charity provides.

Why run another marathon?
In 2023, I ran the Edinburgh Marathon to raise money for PKD Charity and in support of my dad. It was my way of standing with him during a difficult time, showing that we were in it together. Now, in 2025, I’m running the Edinburgh Marathon again—not just to build on the foundation of funds raised in 2023, but to celebrate the success of my dad’s transplant and the hope it brings to countless others affected by PKD.

This year, I want to continue raising awareness, educating others about PKD, and supporting the vital work of PKD Charity. Every donation makes a difference, bringing us closer to better treatments and brighter futures for those affected by PKD.

What does PKD Charity do?
PKD Charity supports individuals, families, and carers impacted by PKD. Their work focuses on two critical areas: raising awareness and funding vital research. More information is available here: https://pkdcharity.org.uk/about-us/what-we-do.

How to donate:
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast, and secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving—they’ll never sell them or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, your money is sent directly to PKD Charity, making it the most efficient way to give.

Thank you for your generosity and for supporting me on this journey. Together, we can make a lasting impact on the lives of those affected by PKD 💚
