Story
As many of you will know I'm a keen cyclist and this year I've set myself a new challenge - to complete a 100km bike ride on Saturday 18th June. Easy I hear you cry but the twist is that I have to complete the ride before 8am on Saturday morning which means setting off at around 4am!
Like many of you I love this time of year with the beautiful, bright mornings and long, warm evenings. This ride is to celebrate light and all the amazing things it allows us to do and see.
Macmillan Cancer Support provide light to thousands of people each year who are battling cancer.
It is also the charity that our much loved friend & colleague Richard Blondell-Jenkins raised money for through numerous events including 22 half marathons and 2 full marathons. Richard tragically passed in 2020 and although I didn't know him personally that well I've been amazed to learn how much be supported and enriched the lives of those around him.
I always remember that Rich was an early bird in the office - no matter how early I got there he was always in and he'd usually been to the gym too! Therefore I'm sure he would approve of a challenge involving getting up at 1st light near the Summer Solstice!
I would be very grateful for any donation in memory of our dearest friend & colleague.
