Hello!
Thank you for visiting my JustGiving Page.
My name is Matt Scott. I am an 18 year old second year college student, with my A-Level exams coming up next month. Hopefully in the next few years I am hoping to join Surrey Police. My hair extends beyond my shoulders, measuring about 13 inches. I intend to cut 10 inches (or thereabouts) off at my college (Strode's College, Egham) with the kind, charitable help of the hairdresser SJ Forbes of Egham. Massive thanks to both my college & SJ Forbes, without them I couldn't do this. This is a big step for me after so long with my beloved long hair, hopefully I will look good.
I have had long hair for around 6 years, only occasionally trimming it back to keep it looking respectable, but growing pretty much consistently otherwise. I will miss my hair, but I feel now is a good time to get it cut for a good cause, Care of Police Survivors (COPS).
COPS is an organisation set up to support those who have lost loved ones in the line of duty, and help them rebuild their lives. This charity is particularly relevant after the untimely death of PC Keith Palmer in the line of duty in Westminster London, to name one event.
Such heartbreaking occurrences are understandably difficult on family members of the deceased, and the support COPS can give to these people is vital, and they help when people need it most.
As I have previously mentioned, intending to become a police officer myself and having spoken to many officers, both serving and retired, has shown me the risks each officer faces each day when they go to work.
I hope to raise 200 pounds at least for such a wonderful charity who's work is often unseen but is of such great value to people who need it, and often don't ever think such a terrible thing could happen to their family.
As I intend to cut 10 inches (or thereabouts) off, and I will be donating my hair to a separate charity to provide wigs to those less fortunate than I.
Overall, I feel that now is the opportune time, before I leave college, to raise money for a wonderful cause and say a sad farewell to my long hair forever.
