To be straight I was going to do this bike ride anyway, just for the challenge of 'conquering my island'. 1000 miles in 11 days. If I can help a charity along the way then why not?
Any money I raise will go to a local children’s charity called Parasol. They do not benefit from any big centralised fund raising activities - their survival depends on small donations and the efforts of a small group of people.
My co-rider/friend Chris has a nephew who has attended Parasol for many years. He has talked about how his nephew has benefited from their wonderful work. When times are difficult it is often charities like Parasol that suffer most when money becomes difficult, so with a gentle arm up my back Chris persuaded me to try and help. The work they do is truly life changing.
Anything you donate I assure you will go to a great cause.
