I am running on behalf of the amazing Birmingham Children's Hospital for saving our beautiful Mia.
Mia was diagnosed antenatally with a complex congenital heart condition. As a 'parent to be' this was the most frightening news to hear, however every step of the way the children's hospital has been there. Since before Mia was born the team at Birmingham Children's Hospital has supported, guided and fully informed my wife and I about every aspect of our daughter's cardiac condition. In the very darkest of moments, Mia's surgeons, consultants, nurses and physiotherapists have brought some light in and helped us to find the strength to keep going.
Today, our courageous Mia is battling on - living life to the fullest. A shining example to us all. She will continue to be supported by the children's hospital into adulthood and we would like to give a little something back. Fundraising is an important part of life at the hospital; it allows parents to sleep by their child's bedside, revamps dull and outdated playrooms into magical places for poorly children, bring smiles and laughter to children through magic shows, circus entertainment and the crazy clown doctors. These are just a few things that Mia was allowed to enjoy through the amazing fundraising activities people take part in. Seeing a smile on your child's face while they are suffering is just so precious.
