Story
Last year I took part in the Fireflies Tour for the first time and it changed my life. After a long cold winter of training I suddenly found I liked climbing mountains and fell in love with the people who make this whole crazy, ridiculously challenging, and extremely worthwhile event happen. I rode with my brother Dan and got to spend a week hurting in his company which made everything just that little bit easier to bear.
So Dan and I are doing it again this year. Training has been just as tough. Already this year I have cycled over 4000km in preparation and although there aren't any mountains to practise on in London I think I'm getting close.
Why should you sponsor me? I'm clearly doing something I love with people I adore....Since 2001 The FireFlies have fundraised to support clinical and scientific research into the causes & treatment of Leukaemia and other Blood Cancers at The Hammersmith Hospital in London. This is an opportunity to build upon that legacy and this year the funds that we raise will be used to help fund a nurse to work on clinical trials to help conquer this diverse and brutal collection of cancers. Since I started riding with the FireFlies I have learned so much more about Blood Cancer and heard some amazing stories from the people who have survived and those left behind. Make no mistake this is important!
7 days of cycling from Geneva to Cannes. 1,000 km & 25,500m climbing across "Les Grandes Alpes" in aid of Beating Blood Cancers. Inspired by the courage it takes to fight Cancer, we, the riders will tackle the most gruelling climbs of Le Tour de France.
