Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On August 30, 2011 my dad, Barrie passed away from a rare blood cancer called Multiple Myeloma. Myeloma affects the plasma cells in the blood, which are an important part of the immune system that fights infection. Dad was only diagnosed with Myeloma in February of 2011, but by then the cancer was already widespread. Throughout his life he was an inspiration and a brilliant dad.
Treatments for myeloma control the cancer as well as preventing and relieving symptoms, but right now there is no permanent cure for this form of blood cancer.
Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research is currently investing more than £5 million into research across the UK to find new and better treatments for people touched by myeloma.
On September 7, 2014 to raise awareness and some hard-earned cash I am running the 'Great North Run' half marathon from Newcastle to South Shields. This will be my 4th half marathon and to date I have run over 1700kms in training and races!
