Story
I have worked at Acorn for over 7 and a half years, its a big part of my life and love working with the team and clients helping to grow and create more opportunities for people with disabilities and long term health conditions. I've see first hand how much Acorn can help and support individuals in so many ways. Its a unique place with lots of unique people who all bring something amazing to the place.
I am taking part in the white collar boxing for some personal reasons and also to try and raise money for the amazing charity that I'm lucky to work for. I am going to push myself physically and mentally by taking part in the boxing, it involves a 14 week training camp and then the fight night on 12th of November.
Now days I am open with my colleagues and friends about how at times I can struggle with my mental health and how over the years its held me back by not addressing things or pretending that it didn't effect me as much as it did. I have now learnt different strategies and techniques to help try and maintain better mental health and exercise has been a big part of that and I notice the difference If I stop or am not able to do any training for a period of time.
I would like to say a huge thanks to Cam Elliot and The Team at Transform Together who are putting so much time in to help train over 50 fighters and put on the event, and a huge thank you to ROK construction & 'Rossborough Financial services' for sponsoring me and helping to be able to take part in this.
if you are interested in buying a ticket to the event please email me for more information.
