THANK YOU EVERYBODY WHO DONATED.
YOU'LL BE PLEASED TO KNOW I NOT ONLY COMPLETED THE MARATHON, BUT RAN IT IN 3hrs, 15mins, 45secs - FAR QUICKER THAN I ANTICIPATED. THAT PUT ME WELL INTO THE TOP 300 FINISHERS OUT OF AROUND 9,000 RUNNERS. I AM SO PLEASED WITH THE TIME.
ONLY 20 OF US FROM SUSSEX UNIVERSITY RAN FOR THE BHOPAL MEDICAL APPEAL, BUT WE HAVE COLLECTIVELY RAISED ALMOST £5,000.
THANK YOU ALL !!!!!!!!!!
Hi. Thanks for visiting my Just Giving page.
I'm going for my 3rd Brighton Marathon in April 2012. This year I am raising money for the Bhopal Medical Appeal, and am part of a small team of tutors and students from the University of Sussex running for this charity.
The Bhopal Medical Appeal supports two free clinics in Bhopal, India, for survivors of the Union Carbide gas disaster of December 1984, and for children still suffering from the effects of groundwater poisoning in the area. If anyone has seen the documentary film about the long-lasting effects of the disaster you will know what a worthy cause this is.
Any donation, however small, would be really appreciated. Alternatively, you can donate at our team's Just Giving page at - http://www.justgiving.com/teams/unisusbhopalrunners
As for me, I am attempting to make up for my rather slow 4hr 12min marathon last year. I have recently smashed all my personal best times from the 5km to the half marathon, and ran the Brighton Half in 1hr 28mins in February. I am hoping to run a sub-3hr 30min marathon this time. This would be a massive imrovement on my previous marathon times, but I am much faster, much fitter, and half a stone lighter than last year, so I have no excuses not to run my best ever marathon.
Thanks
Mat
