Story
From 10-18 September 2016, I’ll be riding the ‘Tour de Sez’ –
a 700-mile bike ride from St Malo to Bilbao in northern Spain. I’ve always enjoyed cycling – whether cycling to work or taking in a few country pubs on a sunny afternoon with my dad. But this ride will certainly take my efforts to the next level, as a group of 65 of us attempt to ride 90-100 miles a day.
I’ve been doing lots of training over the past few months, with lots of early Sunday-morning laps of the island of Guernsey, but now’s the time to put the legs to the test.
It’s all in aid of a good cause – the Sarah Groves Foundation, which supports disadvantaged children in Guernsey and beyond. However, in order to take part, I need to raise a minimum of £1,750 in sponsorship money, so anything you’re kindly able to donate would be very gratefully received.
Many thanks for your support! Thomas
More about the cause below…
On 6 April 2013, 24 year old Guernsey woman Sarah Groves was tragically murdered on a houseboat in Kashmir. This caused devastation
and grief to those whose lives had been touched by her.
Due to Sarah's insatiable love of life however, together with her desire to make a change in the world, and her determination to help as many people as she could, the Sarah Groves Foundation has been set up in Guernsey as a Charitable Trust. It will focus on Sarah's inspirations and aspirations, which came from art, children, adventure, and fitness. This fund will continue Sarah's legacy, which is all about love, helping others, and achieving ones dreams. Participants are going to put themselves through this incredible challenge in order to raise as much money as possible for The Sarah Groves Foundation. We are not an elite group of cyclists, far from it, but we are as a collective incredibly motivated and together will ride from St Malo to Bilbao and back.
We as a team are going to do something never attempted from these shores before, but we all have an incredible motivation to make this challenge become a reality and for ourselves to live a life less
ordinary, just like Sarah.
You can support my own personal efforts to reach my target by making a donation via this JustGiving page.
