Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In May 2022, Dani and I were told the news you thought you'd only ever hear in your worst nightmare - our son has cancer. Since then, our lives have changed so much; managing surgeries, medication, OCD over who we socialise with, many hospital visits, sleepless nights and the constant anxiety and fear of his treatment not working to name just a few.
Despite the whole ordeal, the service and support we have received from the NHS at the Royal Marsden, St Georges University Hospital and in particular the Royal Alexandra Children's Hospital has been nothing but amazing. At the time of writing, we have been to the RACH 53 times since May. The facilities, equipment, toys, support and staff have made the most horrifying time of our lives as comfortable as possible. From the staff who greeted us and broke the news in the Children's Emergency Department to the staff on level 9 who make us feel so welcome during those 3 night stays have all been fantastic. However we will always be grateful and in debt to the staff in the children's oncology unit who have been the most fantastic emotional support and upmost professionals during our many visits - dare I say Frey looks forward to seeing them all during our chemotherapy sessions.
We want to give something back, so I have decided that my Community at School will raise money this year for Rockinghorse.
I am aiming to raise £1000 before Christmas. I have set this challenge to the 330 students in our Community, in addition to any funds contributed by my friends and family. I know times are hard, but please donate what you can; not only will Dani and I be grateful, but so will the thousands of children and their families who visit the RACH each year.
If I do not reach my target by Christmas, do not worry - the hair will still go, but I will up my target for the students to reach, hopefully by the end of the Spring term. For the record, my hair has not been cut since November 2020
