Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. Below is the reason we decided to create a calendar and raise funds for the British Heart Foundation.

The inspiration behind it is our friend and colleague Marisa Farndon, who whilst at work back in August of this year was taken seriously ill and had a heart attack.  Fortunately, even though she has a long road to recovery ahead of her, she will be re-joining us at Chesterfield Store once she is back to full health.   We wanted to do something a little different for her in addition to sending flowers, and a chance comment by one of my colleagues, Chris White about another M & S Store having created a calendar planted the seed of an idea.  We would create our own calendar and all the profits would be given to the British Heart Foundation to help them carry on their hugely important work.

So the fun and hard work began.  First a photographer was required.  Next was make-up for the models.  Then a comment to my colleague, Diane Fowler “That we could do with a hairdresser”.  She disappears and ten minutes later she is back and a Hair Salon are on board – ‘FANTASTIC’.

Now I just had to decide on a theme for the calendar. Having bounced a few ideas off other colleagues I asked staff to think of  pictures that could be given a bit of an M & S twist and then volunteer to be in them.  Hope you like them as we had great fun creating the calendar with us basing pictures on everything from a young Twiggy to James Bond and Poirot.

Oh, and look out for Percy Pig – He’s in all the photo’s as he could not decide which one to do and would not take no for an answer.

The best news is because of all the free time that has been given by the various people involved in the calendar £4.00 from every calendar sold will be going to the British Heart Foundation.
