Story
Thank you for visiting my page. I know you all get bombarded with numerous requests for donations, but I’m hoping you find this one a little different.
Get to the Point....
I’ve had the privelige of being selected by Skiing With Heroes to help as a “Ski Buddy” to take a group of injured war veterans on a rehabilitation programme in the Swiss Alps. I'm paying for 100% of travel costs to ensure every penny donated helps the charity. For those that don’t know me, I’m a ski obsessed Tax Advisor & over the past 8 years have undertaken Alpine and Adaptive ski instructor courses enabling me to take groups of special needs children from local schools on monthly sessions to the glamorous Tamworth snow dome.
What does the Charity do?
Skiing With Heroes is a UK-based charity that helps wounded ex-Iraq and Afghanistan campaign soldiers back into employment through a specially designed ski-based development, mentoring and job finding programme. Their work enables these Veterans to:
- Recover their confidence
- Re-enter employment
- Reclaim their lives
As part of my selection I aim to raise as much money as possible to help a cause in which I strongly believe via a sport in which I'm passionate.
How can your donation help?
Mentoring a Veteran typically costs £1,000 per year, and the Employment programme costs about £5,000 per Veteran. No donation is too small, but here’s a small example of how some donations help;
£25 - is a valuable contribution towards the Skiing With Heroes Veteran assistance costs.
£100 - pays for a significant chunk of a Veteran’s one-on-one mentoring. Helping a Veteran focus on a progressive, achievable life-plan is crucial. Such support can take many forms, from the building of business plans and instigating lifestyle routines, to seeking the right professional or medical advice.
£500 - helps to pay for the full assisting of a Veteran into sustainable employment. This entails everything the Veteran requires from strategising, job seeking, CV writing, interview guidance to the point of job-start and beyond.
All UK-taxpayers, please remember to tick the gift aid box, as this allows the charity to reclaim 20% tax suffered on your donation. For a £100 donation, this means the Charity receives £125 which significantly aids the programme. 40% and 45% taxpayers - don’t forget to declare your donation on your tax return to benefit from 20%-25% tax savings (message me if you require assistance on this).
