Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page and for helping me raise funds for a great cause, The Kathmandu Kids Club.

Here you can learn something about why your help is so badly needed by these children in Nepal and how you can make a big difference with a little generosity.

In the hope of inspiring your generosity, our group of 15 intrepid individuals shall tackle a high altitude endurance trek through the remote and rugged Humla region of Northwestern Nepal during two weeks in October this year.

We each aim to raise a minimum of 10,000 USD (approx 6,700 GBP or 8,300 EUR) every penny of which goes exactly where it is needed in Nepal.

Each trekker has paid for their own flights and all costs related to taking part in this challenge.

If you wish to donate in a currency other than GBP, please go to the Kathmandu Kids Club website and select "Donate online now".

Please give generously to this charity and wish us luck in our long preparation and in the trek itself!

And here is why we are doing it:

In Nepal almost one-third of the population lives on less than US $1 a day.  From 1995-2006 a civil war was waged  leaving more than 12,000 people dead, approximately 100,000 people displaced, and untold thousands of child trafficking victims.

ISIS chose to work in Humla because it is the most remote and poorest region in Nepal.

Life for Humli people is extremely challenging due to the remoteness of the region, ongoing difficulties due to the recent civil war, a harsh terrain and winter climate.

Transportation of building materials for latrines, solar lighting and stoves are particularly costly to this high altitude Himalayan region.

By providing medical support, sanitation, infrastructure and education, ISIS and the Kathmandu Kids Club has been empowering families to break the cycles of poverty and of abuse allowing them to rebuild their lives and their communities.

The Kathmandu Kids Club, a Bermuda fundraising group for The ISIS Foundation, is solely volunteer run.

100% of the funds received arrives in Nepal undiluted, offering maximum positive impact on the children and the people caring for them.
