Story
Once again I have (for my sins) volunteered to take part in the ‘Tri for Life Triathlon relay’ dragging my creaking limbs around Woburn with Neil Singer and Richard Wolfryd to complete the ‘A team’.
Richard will be running 5k, Neil swimming 400m and I will be cycling 20k (having come 2 last year). Our aim is to do better than last year and therefore will have to “up” the training.
Being a founder of the charity organisation, ‘Rays of Sunshine’ (www.raysofsunshine.org.uk), I want to help raise £100,000 as the number of wishes received are growing by the day and we do not want to leave any wishes unfulfilled. The sum of money we are raising could finance approximately 115 wishes.
Rays of Sunshine Children's Charity was formed in 2004 to help children who are living with serious or life-limiting illnesses between the ages of 3-18, across the United Kingdom. Rays of Sunshine raise money to help grant these children’s wishes however impossible the wish may seem and also by helping hospitals, hospices and specialist schools improve their facilities. With your help and support together we can turn wishes into happy memories. Tri for Life was set up five years ago, with the sole aim of raising money for charities.
Rays of Sunshine is one of four main charity partners to benefit alongside Great Ormond Street Hospital, Whizz-Kidz and Breakthrough for Breast Cancer. As our team is entering in The Sunshine Wave all the money we raise will come directly to Rays of Sunshine. The money raised will enable around 150 seriously ill children to put their illness on hold and experience the magic of having a wish come true.
The Tri for Life, triathlon takes place on Sunday 15 September at Woburn Abbey. Tri for Life is a family event and supporters of all ages are very welcome, children can also enjoy the kids play zone. Further details about Tri for Life can be found at: www.triforlife.co.uk.
I would be grateful if you helped in sponsoring our event. Every sponsorship is “hugely” appreciated!
