Route Des Hautes Alpes · 23 June 2012

For 25 years, we have organised cycle events, mainly in Europe. We have raised a huge £4,378,361 mainly for cancer, heart and other medical research. We pride ourselves that EVERY PENNY that has been raised has been paid to charity - our participants paying the full fees for event entry themselves.

Story

Starting in the heart of the Alps in Geneva, I will be cycling 500 miles to the Mediterranean through the heart of the Alps, climbing in excess of 20,000 metres (2 1/2 Everests !) and tackling some of the most famous climbs of the Tour De France - Cols de Galibier, Madelaine, Croix De Fer, Izoard, Alpe D'Huez to name a few and , at 2802m, the feared Col de la Bonette which is the highest road pass in Europe

I am challenging myself to complete this ride in 6 days and in doing so raise awareness and (hopefully) some money for two charities that are making a real difference:

The British Heart Foundation focuses on funding research and education into the causes, prevention and treatment of coronary disease;

Cancer Research UK are leading the fight against cancer through research and education programmes. Six of the top 10 cancer drugs have been developed as a result of their research programmes, which have all been funded through charitable donations;

I will be digging deep into my physical and mental reserves to complete this challenge and, if these charites appeal to you, I hope that you will feel moved to donate.

As with all the events I have undertaken I am paying my own costs - every pound you donate will go to these charities.

Thanks for your support, Mark.
