Story
I'm not a great runner and have never run more than a few miles at a time before 2017. I have also found out that I now have severe arthritis in my left hip (which made me feel much older than 41!). Despite this, I have got myself fitter than ever, lost nearly 2 stone and decided to set myself a challenge: to run a total of 1000 miles in 2017 (before my hip gives in!). I want to do it in memory of my Mum, who passed away 5 years ago from bowel cancer.
If diagnosed at an early stage, bowel cancer can be treated very successfully in over 90% of cases. In spite of this, bowel cancer remains the UK’s second biggest cancer killer.
Beating Bowel Cancer are campaigning to reduce the bowel cancer screening age from 60 to 50 and campaign for the highest quality treatment and care for bowel cancer patients.
